Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club 1st XI v Tewin on Sat 05 Aug 2006 at 13.30 meet 12.00
Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club Won 9 Wickets
The Skipper lost the toss, and Tewin chose to bat on what looked to be a superb batting strip, aided by a lightning fast outfield. William and Troy opened up and bowled superbly. William ripped through the Tewin top order and thoroughly deserved his return of 5-23. Troy bowled an excellent spell without reward. The Skipper chipped in with a bullet like throw into Tom's gloves to effect a Run out. Darren came on and from ball one looked dangerous and proceeded to bowl a wonderful spell to claim 3-9 off 8 Overs (He even managed to turn one or two!!!). Tewin were bowled out for a paltry 52 off 32.5 overs.
In reply, the Skipper decided to reverse the batting order, and so it was Simon Green and James Dickinson opening the batting for Ware. From ball one Simon (29 NO) seemed to be in a hurry cracking the ball to the boundary. James (22) played some scintillating shots down the ground and Simon put on a fantastic Partnership of 50 off approx 6.4 overs, before James was unkuckily to be adjudged LBW. Stickie came in at 3, but it was Simon who finished the game off for Ware when he slapped one back past the bowler for a boundary.
Well done guys on an excellent all round performance, in which we put on our best Fielding display of the season. The Win moves us up to 3rd in the League with 5 games left. If we can continue this excellent form, not only will we be promoted back to Division 6, but we could win the League.
