Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club 2nd XI v Flamstead II on Sat 22 Jul 2006 at 13.30 meet 12.00
Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club Lost 38 runs

Too many runs conceded was the problem.

Devo after a couple of laps round the village and a gym session was perhaps a little tired and bowled a few full bungers. This frustrated Asbo who was prevented from bottling Dev by the rest of the team but vented his frustrations by bowling a few wides.

Troy came on and got very excited about every delivery he bowled and should have got more wickets.

Hugh bowled some complete pies and got smacked all over the place.

It was left to Si Morgan and Nabil to get some wickets and put pressure on the oppo. Ben Hart came on at the end for his first spell for the club and bowled well. A late spurt left Ware with a large target to chase.

Steve (Subtle) walker opened the batting with Si (Dave Green) Morgan. Walker began mooing at everything but was able to connect and smacked a quick 20. Dev then played a number of sublime shots before missing the straight one. There was then a little collapse with Troy, Phil K, Si M and Si K getting out quickly leaving Ware on 88 for 6. Ware then put on 101 for the next wicket with local hero Tom Ellaway gently nurdling a composed 75 - sorry meant to say bashing the ball to all parts. A 6 off the first ball signalled his intent to chade down the runs. Riz was at the other end and he actually hit a shot to the leg side.

After this pair were out, Ware passed the 200 mark thanks to Ben H and Nabil. Hugh was too busy trying to pick a fight with the oppo to concentrate on batting and was bowled leaving Ware 38 short of their target. A good effort.

Highlights:
Walker smashing the oppo captain for 6.
Tom Ellaway's superb opening six
Tom Ellaway getting 75 (maiden 50)
Tom Ellaway running three after failing to hit the boundary
Julian turning up drunk after a wedding

The champagne moment without a doubt was Nabil coming in and managing to bowl the ball backwards in to the "delicate region of the umpire's groin area". A superb effort which left the umpire crumpled in a heap and unable to call out no-ball or wide for the rest of the innings. Hugh Andrews has taught Nabil well in the art of intimidation.
