Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club 1st XI v Boxmoor on Sat 07 Jul 2007 at 1330
Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Ware lost the toss and were asked to bowl against Boxmoor on a soft Widford wicket. William Jones and Richard Bartsch bowled tightly early on and were rewarded as Boxmoor were quickly reduced to 28 for 5. Cope and Percy rode their luck and steadied the innings well, adding 51 for the sixth wicket before the introduction of Darren Patel broke the partnership. Wickets tumbled regularly after that with James Dickinson snaring the last four to have Boxmoor all out for 105 in 41 overs. All the bowlers bowled very well – Dickinson with taking 4 for 35, Bartsch 3 for 29, Jones 2 for 25 and Patel 1 for 9.
With 59 overs available to score the runs, Ware knew they only had to avoid being dismissed. Following the early loss of Tom Thoday, William Jones and Wayne Langton added 52 before Jones was trapped LBW for 45. John Schlaepfer provided the support while Langton cruised Ware to victory from the other end – Ware winning by 8 wickets with Langton unbeaten on 37.
The win raised Ware to fourth place in the battle for the four promotion places in the division.
