First Impressions of Molehill Greens Ground were varied. The Skipper won the toss and chose to Bowl First. Si Knott and Ben Hart opened the bowling with a varied result a sharp cross wind and very, very small boundary meant that 22 runs from the first two over’s set the standard. Si knott was the first to make the breakthrough clean bowling there openers. Simon Morgan and Peter Devonshire took the first changes at each end could do nothing to stop the runs piling on with the slightest touch running for 4. Darren Patel was bought into the attack to calm the Molehill Green Run rate, at one stage they were 150 for 3 of 23 over’s, Darren Made the Second Breakthrough with the extra bounce and a quick stumping from Tom Ellaway.
What followed next can only be described as a "strange turn of events". Molehill green were looking to post a score nearer the 300 Mark. Hugh Andrews strolls up and BAFFLES the opposition with his conventional straight ball taking 4 quick wickets for only 40 runs. Two of them Clean Bowled and Two Catches from the surrounding fielders. Molehill Green Still Had a key batsmen who was scoring and along strolls Jamie Don, Within 3 Overs he had taken the key wicket with an outside edge dropping to Tom Ellaways Right hand side. He then found some turn from the non responsive wicket bowling One of the tail enders clean. Molehill Greens No.11 clasped the remaining runs from the last over taking them to 217 for 9.
Peter Devonshire Set the standard in the first over with two 6's and some quick running. He Punched a quick 46 runs from the opening bowlers before being caught trying to pull another boundary. Ben Hart fell in the second over bringing in Darren Patel for what could be his best innings of the season. He go off to a shaky start scoring slowly. Tom Ellaway Replaced Devo and set about the Molehill Green's bowlers taking 30 runs with only two singles from his score. The run chase forced Darren and Tom to up the run rate but this quickly ended Tom's Scoring with a direct hit run out from the oppo. Si Morgan was brought to the crease at number 5, Him and Darren now faced a 8 Run Per over challenge. Darren suddenly found the middle of the bat and started to score quickly. Si Morgan not only found the middle of the bat and hit hs first Boundary for Ware OH but followed this with a 6 two balls later. Darren and Si complimented each other fantastically scoring quickly demoralising the oppo. The Partnership reached 92 very quickly. In the closing stages Ware OH CC required 25 from 25 Balls. Darren Nudged a quick two Runs for his Maiden 50 for Ware OH (Well Done Darren).
Darren then Fell to the straight ball in the last 3 over’s, Leaving Simon Morgan and Jamie Don to Finish the Job. Simon had notched up 48 runs from his innings, with 2 over’s to spare. With an Obvious Jug denial Si ran a quick single leaving him 2 runs short of his 50 and Jamie don to hit the remaining 3 runs by clipping a boundary.
A Fantastic Run Chase From Ware OH and the First Win of the season for the Sunday Team. Ware Fielded Well with the Short boundary’s.
Man of the Match had to be Hugh Andrews with his 4-40 which collapsed the Molehill Green batting order and his outstanding fielding.
