Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club 2nd XI v Shenley Village III on Sat 22 May 2004 at 1.30pm meet at 12.45pm
Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club Won 82 runs
Ware produced a solid display to gain their first win of the season. Electing to bat on a slighltly damp wicket, the opening partnership partnership of Tom Parker and Jut Gray instantly put the pressure on Shenley Village with a combination of quick singles and big hits. 42 runs were added until Parker unluckily defelcted the ball in to his stumps.Another middle order wobble left Ware on 79 for 4 but Hugh Andrews and Andy Vaughan combined to stabilise the innings until Hugh forgot where his crease was, took a bit of a wander after an LBW appeal and was stumped - Andrews was left fuming and had to be ordered to take a cold shower to calm down. Ware stumbled on and though Vaughan remained at the crease they were all out for 140 - Iqbal taking 9 wickets for 56 runs.
Electric fielding from Ollie Forrest and then from an over-excited Hugh Andrews produced two run outs in the first three overs, the visitors never recovered and thanks to Clive Nicholls taking four wickets Ware fininshed the innings off and were soon in place at the White Horse at 6.30.
