Frogmore v Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 03 Jul 2004 at 1.30pm meet at 12.30pm
Ware (Old Hertfordians) Cricket Club Lost nine wickets
A strange game.
Half of the oppo were south african and proceeded to talk in Afrikaans during the game, we batted first after being put in on a wicket that looked as though it had not been cut for a week. The resulting variable bounce and movement made it difficult for the opening partnership of Andy Vaughan and Tom Parker but they pushed the total on to 29 before Andy departed. Enter J Don who impressed at nets and was shoved up the order and he went on to make his top score for the club with a patient innings in the difficult conditions. Ware did lose Tony Hackett after damaging a collar bone, steve risby then added 33 after being hit on the elbow with a nasty delivery (should have hit the ball was the verdict of the watching crowd).
With Mike Hackett following his Dad to hospital, Ware were short in the field and soon allowed the oppo to get the runs in order that they could get to the pub at a reasonable hour.
